Following the success of last year’s ‘Crackers for Christmas’ event, a full weekend of entertainment is set to return for 2025, to mark the beginning of the festive season in Sheffield. The popular Christmas markets will also be back, plus illuminations display across the city centre. Earlier this year, members of the public were asked to have their say on last year’s event and entertainment. The feedback from residents have been used to shape this year’s activities. Kicking off the Christmas celebrations on Saturday 15 November and Sunday 16 November is Crackers for Christmas, returning for another year. The event will once again feature activities and performances to start the festive season off with a bang. From a homage to panto, dance performances, music from local bands to Christmas crafts and children’s entertainment. A full event line up will be released later this year. The Christmas markets will be set up in time for the event, opening on Thursday 13 November, as well as city centre-wide illuminations. Both will run until Friday 2 January. The Sheffield Christmas Markets have grown massively over the years, from just a handful of businesses to a full shopping experience with over 50 cabins. The markets celebrate Sheffield's great independent traders, with over 80% based locally and for 2025 they will be situated on Fargate, Pinstone Street and the Moor. Streets will be lit up from Haymarket, through to Fargate, Barker's Pool and Surrey Street, Divison Street, Pinstone Street, the Peace Gardens and Cambridge Street. Visitors can expect Alpine Bars, German sausages, Yorkshire pudding wraps, toasted marshmallows, churros and many other food and drink experiences. They’ll be able to jump on the carousel at Barker’s Pool, where there will also be a Santa’s Grotto.
